EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can usually work anywhere in the EU and EEA without a permit. Everyone else normally needs a visa or work permit before starting, and your employer may need to apply for it.

If you are covered by a public health system in the EU, carry your European Health Insurance Card. It covers necessary state healthcare on temporary stays, not private care or repatriation.

Ask whether your employer's policy covers you as an instructor or guide. Freelancers usually need their own professional liability cover.

Standard travel insurance often excludes working or rescue costs in the mountains or at sea. Check the small print for the activities you will do.
