Europe's windiest corner. Kitesurf and windsurf schools run almost all year on the long beaches facing Morocco.
Why work here
The Levante and Poniente winds make Tarifa one of the most consistent kitesurfing spots in the world. Dozens of schools teach kitesurfing, windsurfing and wing foiling, and there is work for instructors, rescue boat drivers and shop staff.
Finding work
Schools recruit from February for the main season. An IKO or VDWS instructor certificate is the standard, and a boat licence is a plus. Spanish is useful but many schools teach in English, German and French.
Living there
Summer accommodation is expensive and books up early. Out of season, rents drop and the town is quieter. Ferries to Tangier make for easy trips on days off.
